If you are getting the Online Enquiries Unavailable error when you are trying to open Online Enquiries; the first thing to try is to restart the application and see if the module activates. You should also confirm that the date and time on your machine is correct as Online Enquiries will be disabled, if the time is incorrect by more than 5 minutes or the date is incorrect.
There are several possible error messages that Online Enquiries may give if it cannot connect. The most common are:
The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required
This could mean that your IT team has changed some settings so this is now required when before it was not, or that your password needs to be updated. To change your password go to:
Options menu
Then select the Online Enquiries section.
Scroll to the bottom of this panel and you will see the Proxy options.
Your IT team should be able to tell you what needs to be filled in here.
Could not connect to Online Enquiries service. Please check your Internet connection
ConQuest checks whether it can access Online Enquiries when it is started, and does not try again subsequently, so if there is a temporary problem accessing the internet, the error will persist well after it has been resolved.
The first thing to try is therefore closing down and reopening your ConQuest - if you're using Terminal Services, make sure that it is ConQuest you close, rather than your connection to the server where ConQuest is running. It is easy to catch the X at the top of a remote desktop connection window rather than ConQuest's own X. To make absolutely sure that ConQuest itself has restarted, go to Options and without changing anything, click OK - this always makes ConQuest restart.
If this does not resolve the problem, and your internet connection appears to be functioning correctly, then it is probably due to firewall, proxy or content filtering and we'll need to investigate this with the assistance of your IT. Your ConQuest log file, accessible from Help, About ConQuest, will be helpful.
A SOAP Error has been encountered, There was no endpoint listening
This means that your machine has been unable to connect to our servers. The most common causes of this are the same as for the 407 error above, but it can also be because the time on your machine differs from the server time by 5 minutes or more.
An Unexpected Error occurred whilst trying to communicate with the Online Enquiries Service
This type of error is usually caused by the Online Enquiries credentials not being populated. You can check them by going to:
Options menu and then choose Online Enquiries
Check there is a username populated in the Enquiry User Name field and it is the correct username (check with a colleague if unsure).
If this is blank copying only the username will not work, you must have the password populated as well (******* is displayed whether there is a password set or not).
If you need the password and no colleague can provide it, please continue with a support member for further assistance.
SOAP security negotiation failed
This issue can be solved by disabling and re-enabling TLS 1.0.
ConQuest Support is aware that this is a major security concern, so the further solution is to upgrade the ConQuest system to a version that is compatible with TLS 1.2. The latest version that's compatible with TLS 1.2 is version 7.
