If you are not using the Estimating Snapshot feature, the undesirable change was not in the Estimating module or was too long ago for the Snapshot to be of use, the best way to restore a ConQuest project to an earlier state is to use a ConQuest-created backup.
You can back up the current project by:
Going to the Tools menu
Select Zip and then Current Project.
You can back up multiple projects at once by highlighting them on the Project Register and then clicking Export.
Note: if you're selecting a lot of projects or large projects, this can take a long time.
These backups can then be used to:
Pass the project to another user who is not on a shared network install
Return your project to an earlier state
Add the earlier version of the project to your ConQuest projects list with a new code
This is done in each case using the Import button on the project register. If changing the code (as for the last option), care must be taken to ensure you are not overwriting a different, valid project.
Note: ConQuest backups contain Estimate, Valuations, Comparisons and Legacy Enquiries information. They do not include Online Enquiries information as this is not stored on your system.
If you do not have a ConQuest backup, then it is still sometimes possible to return the estimate to an earlier state, but please note, this is only the estimate, not the Comparisons etc.
The Snapshot feature, if enabled, will, depending on its settings, create one or more backups of the Estimate data that you can choose to restore to. They are best used for very short-term restoration. If the snapshot feature is enabled, you will have Snapshot and Restore buttons at the top of your Estimating view.
If you have neither a ConQuest backup nor a useful snapshot, it may be possible to restore the Estimating files to an earlier state outside of ConQuest. Your IT should be able to assist with either using Previous Versions or extracting files from their scheduled backups. If you have a local ConQuest with the files on the C: drive, it is less likely that anything of the sort will be available.
To locate the files you will need to restore, on the project register, highlight the project in question and look at the Job Details on the right. This will show the Project Directory.
If you have a ConQuest network install, your IT should be backing up both the ConQuest file share and the ConQuest database.
Note: Access does not back up any of your data for you.
