Folder Not Found

Cannot save Options

Written by Magda Antonie

When saving your Options, you may get a Folder Not Found message. This is usually because one of the settings in the Folders or Library section has been set incorrectly and is looking for a folder which does not exist. It may also happen if it is looking for locations on a network drive which is not currently accessible.

You must provide valid file locations for all settings - even if you don't need them - before the Options window will let you save it and restart ConQuest. The settings should be correct if the install instructions have been followed, but they may need to be updated.

If you have a user folder on the ConQuest network drive, several of the settings will probably have %username% where your username would go (ie q:\conquest q series\users\%username%\temp) - this is correct, the system knows who you are and replaces this variable. However, this currently doesn't work with the snapshot folder (dev are aware of this and it will be fixed in a future release) and so it must have your username in the path. There is no issue with using your actual username in all of them, but the default configuration will use %username% to avoid having to make multiple changes when setting up a new user.

If you are using citrix or terminal services, none of these settings should be pointing to the c: drive, they should be using the subfolders of the users folder as above, but may also be using a Home drive which only you can access. Using the c: drive or a shared location will cause problems especially for the Temp and Snapshot folders. The Mailshot and Stored Items may also be in the user folder or home drive, but Mailshot is not used unless you are using the old 'paper' enquiries system and the Stored Items is often shared - it depends on how you prefer to work.

If you are uncertain about any of these settings, or would like your install instructions checked or updated, please continue with a support member.
