Adding new Material Headings into the library

Is it possible to add new Material Headings to the Material Section of the Library. Each section holds 999 resources and the limit has been reached.

The library should always be backed up before making any changes.

  1. Ensure that you are in a job which uses the appropriate library

  2. From the Tools menu select Zip and then Current Library

  3. Give this file a name, ideally with the date in so that the latest one is easily identified. It is a good idea to keep several such backups rather than overwriting them each time, in case problems go unnoticed for a while.

To make any changes to the library you must log in with the Library management password. A member of the management team should have this, if not they will need to email through to request the password documentation.

Adding Material Headings to the ROCK or QLIB library:

  1. Log in with the Library management password

  2. Library, Resources, Material Headings, Add/Insert/Edit or Delete (WARNING: Delete will remove all resources listed within that section and cannot be undone unless a backup has been taken)

  3. The new resource heading will be displayed in the Material Heading List

Adding to any other Library (RDBR, CESM, SMM6)

  1. Log in with Library management permission

  2. Library, Groups, Add

  3. Type Heading name in the Description, Unit and Ref can be left blank, Line Type U, OK

  4. This will add the Heading to the list, insert or move it to the relevant location using the Move function

  5. This Heading then needs to be linked to another Group. (If adding an extension to an existing Heading check the group this entry is linked to and link the new group to the same one.)

The Groups process can be very daunting and needs to be done by someone that is used to working in the library.
