How to amend the default layouts

How do I amend the default layouts?

Written by Denisa Badarau

There are 5 default layouts set within each of the core modules of Estimating, Valuations and Comparisons. Each layout can be user-defined. A Layout is a grid onto which various smaller windows of different sizes can be added.

The different layouts are listed on the top menu just below the main tabs.

  1. Select a Layout. The name of the layout is displayed in the bottom right corner.

  2. To rename a Layout, to the right of the Layout names, click Layouts, Edit Layout Names.

  3. Type the Layout name required, click OK.

  4. To change the size of a window, drag the edge of the window.

  5. To pin a window to the side of the screen, click the Auto Hide, pin icon. The window becomes a small tab on the right by default. To change where the small tab appears, on the main menu, click Options, Docking Options.

  6. To pull out a pinned window, hover over the tab. To force it back onto the grid, click the Auto Hide, pin icon again.

  7. To select or deselect windows within the layout, click Layouts, and click a window name to select or deselect. A tick next to the window name indicates it is selected.

  8. To move a window around the grid, right-click, then drag and drop the window header. As the window is moved, a four-arrow indicator appears. While dragging and dropping, move the cursor over one of the arrows on the indicator. A ghost view appears of what the window will look like. Drop the window header over the arrow required. If the cursor is not dropped over an indicator arrow, the window will not move.

  9. Within a window, to make columns appear or be hidden, right-click on any grid header and select Columns.

  10. Select or deselect the columns as needed.

  11. Once the layout has been set up as needed, to store it, click Layouts, Store Current Layout.

  12. To return to the previously stored layout, click Layouts, Restore My Layout.

  13. To start again from the default, click Layouts, Restore Default Layout.

The new Comparisons module in version 5 additionally has settings under Options and Headers in the Comparisons toolbars, which can be used to turn the new information on and off and to adjust the colours.
