Take Off drawing cache

What is the drawing cache for and how can it be activated?

Written by Alina Stepanek

The Enable Drawing Cache checkbox, if ticked, will store a copy of the most recently used drawings on the local hard drive of the computer as they are added or opened. The drawings are stored in the location specified in the Cache Path field, and the maximum size of the drawing cache is specified in the MaximumCache Size field.

To access this:

  1. Launch Take Off

  2. Select Files, Options, System

  3. Tick Enable Drawing Cache

  4. Browse to an available location

  5. Set Maximum Cache Size

If the original drawings are located on a hard drive other than the local hard drive (e.g., if they are stored on a network file server), this option can help to speed up loading drawings, especially large drawings. The drawings cache, if enabled, is managed automatically, and no user intervention is required.

Note: This is set per system, not per user, and will need to be set to a Network area that all users can access.
